Capacity, charging power and built-in cables — what matters?
A bigger battery can store more energy, while a higher wattage can allow faster charging with compatible devices. Neither figure works alone: real charging speed also depends on the phone, tablet or laptop and the charging standards both devices support.
10,000mAh vs 20,000mAh+
Higher-capacity models can provide more total charge between recharges, but they are usually larger and heavier. The current chart includes 10,000mAh, 15,000mAh and 20,000mAh models.
22.5W, 30W and 45W
A higher output rating gives more charging headroom for compatible devices, but it does not force every device to charge at that rate. Your device and the power bank need to support compatible fast-charging standards.
Built-in cables
Built-in cables can reduce the number of accessories you need to carry. Check that the connector type suits the devices you use most often, especially if you want to leave separate cables at home.

Is 10,000mAh enough, and how fast will it charge?
A 10,000mAh power bank is a practical everyday choice for charging a phone, while 20,000mAh offers more capacity for travelling or charging several devices. For fast phone charging, look for USB-C Power Delivery (PD) at around 20W–30W, provided your phone supports it. Some laptops need 45W–65W or more. Remember: mAh indicates capacity, while watts (W) indicate charging power.
Why won't a 10,000mAh power bank deliver 10,000mAh through USB?
The advertised 10,000mAh usually refers to the internal battery cells, often around 3.7V — roughly 37Wh of stored energy. At a 5V USB output, that's only about 7,400mAh before conversion losses, with less delivered in practice. Your phone also loses some energy while charging, so the number of full charges varies. For fairer comparisons between power banks, look at watt-hours (Wh), not just mAh.
Can I take a power bank on a plane, and is bigger always better?
Under UK aviation rules, power banks belong in cabin baggage, with no more than two per person. Up to 100Wh is normally permitted without airline approval; above 100Wh and up to 160Wh requires approval. Do not recharge the power bank during the flight, and check the airline's rules on using it. Bigger models can also be heavy for daily carry. Check the UK Civil Aviation Authority guidance.
